Glencoe Mill
In the Piedmont region of North Carolina, textile mills have been, and still are, a livelihood for many people. The Glencoe Mill was no different. Founded in 1882 on the banks of the Haw River, the Glencoe Mill mainly produced plaid fabrics. It ceased operations in the 1950s and soon after was listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1979. Today the mill homes surrounding Glencoe Mill have been restored and the mill is currently being rehabilitated for residential use.
